One reason why people want to become famous?

Ray Romano, comedian/actor. We're in this business because something in us needs validation. We need that approval that the audience gives you. So, yeah, you can be successful and be famous, whatever, but you never kind of lose what an audience gives you. I always said if my father had hugged me once, I'd be an accountant. I wouldn't do any of this. But I'm very lucky, because it's a job that I enjoy. {http://www.boston.com/ae/theater_arts/comedy/articles/2009/05/02/a_stand_up_guy_at_heart/}
